THE JUDYS
The Judys are legends of the Vancouver indie music scene known for their unique sound that combines elements of swampy retro garage rock and what they call “Savage Dad Rock”. These legends of the Vancouver indie music scene, featuring Dennis Mills -vocals, lyrics (Jazzmanian Devils), Taylor Little drumming legend (Bughouse Five, The Payolas), Pete Fiend -the King of the Fuzz (The Living Deadbeats/The Fiends/The Finks), Dano 5-O -aka The special sauce (The B-sides), Scott Fletcher -guitar hero (The Roswells/Memory Day,) and Shelley Preston aka Shelley SHOWBIZ).
Stuart Derdeyn of the Vancouver Sun says "The Judys are a cross between the New York Dolls and the Rolling Stones" and while he gives props to the Judys’ no holds barred stance, he is also impressed by Mills’ ability to lay his emotions bare in "Happy Mother’s Day", a heartbreaking tale of loss due to Alzheimer’s’. In the liner notes to The Very Best of The Judys, Les Wiseman states: “Of all The Judys' releases, of which there is one, this is the distillate, the essence of rock music.
