THE RUINS OF BEVERAST

Forged in Aachen, Germany in 2003, The Ruins of Beverast is the long-running vision of Alexander von Meilenwald, a singular force in extreme metal whose work has defined a unique realm of towering blackened doom and ritualistic atmosphere. Beginning as a solitary endeavor, the project has evolved into one of the underground’s most revered and uncompromising entities, spanning a discography that includes Unlock the Shrine (2004), Rain Upon the Impure (2006), Foulest Semen of a Sheltered Elite (2009), Blood Vaults – The Blazing Gospel of Heinrich Kramer (2013), Exuvia (2017), The Thule Grimoires (2021), and Tempelschlaf (2026). With each release, The Ruins of Beverast has deepened its mastery of crushing weight, haunting atmosphere, and ancient sonic grandeur. Known for rare and deliberate live appearances, each performance carries the feeling of an invocation rather than a traditional concert. After their first Canadian appearance at Covenant Montreal II in 2018, The Ruins of Beverast returns for Covenant XI in a long-awaited resurgence that promises to become a defining moment in Covenant history.

SPITE

Centered around the enigmatic multi-instrumentalist Salpsan, Spite is a one-man black metal project from Brooklyn, New York, renowned for its relentless aggression, blasphemous themes, and searing riff craftsmanship. Over more than a decade, Spite has built a formidable underground reputation through releases such as Desecration Rites, Trapped In The Pentagram, Antimoshiach, and most recently The Third Temple (2024), a sprawling twelve-track work that fuses biblical lore, satanic philosophy, and ferocious blackened metal into a singular artistic vision. Balancing raw analog intensity with esoteric storytelling, Spite has established itself as one of the underground's most uncompromising voices. At Covenant XI, the project will make its Vancouver—and Canadian—debut, bringing over a decade of blasphemous creation and ritualistic intensity to the stage.

BARSHASKETH

Emerging from the outer fringes of the global black metal underground, Barshasketh was formed in 2007 in Wellington, New Zealand before relocating to Edinburgh, Scotland, where the project has continued to evolve under the guidance of Krigeist (KG). Blending occult philosophy, adversarial spirituality, and the cold intensity of second-wave black metal, Barshasketh has spent nearly two decades refining a distinct sound built upon intricate riffing, immersive atmospheres, and relentless rhythmic force. Evolving from a solo endeavor into an international collective featuring members of the European underground, the band’s vision has reached its fullest expression with their latest release, Antinomian Asceticism (World Terror Committee), a powerful exploration of metaphysical transformation and existential struggle. At Covenant XI, Barshasketh will cross the Atlantic for their first Canadian performance, bringing their deeply cultivated and uncompromising black metal vision to new shores.

LOKABRENNA

Emerging from the volcanic depths of Iceland, Lokabrenna is the latest manifestation of Sturla Viðar, founding bassist and voice of the legendary Svartidauði. Born from the aftermath of Iceland’s extreme metal resurgence, Lokabrenna represents a new and uncompromising vision—an exploration of chaos, transformation, and the collapse of familiar boundaries through overwhelming sonic intensity. Named after the burning star, the project channels a destructive and creative force through a fusion of ritualistic aggression, primal atmosphere, and deeply personal myth-making. With its debut live appearance at Covenant XI, Lokabrenna will unveil the devastating force of its latest offering, Acephalic Apocrypha, bringing forth a sound that confronts the unknown with ferocity, darkness, and unrelenting intensity.

TSALAL

Hailing from the industrial depths of Edmonton, TSALAL is an uncompromising black metal and noise project led by the elusive K.S. and D.N.E., who collectively handle every instrument and vocal performance. Their sound is a chaotic collision of raw black metal, abrasive noise, and ritualistic extremity, captured across a scattered catalog of demos, EPs, splits, and their devastating 2021 full-length, Incarnation of Evil. Known for both their scarcity and intensity, TSALAL has earned a fearsome reputation through rare live performances that are as visually unsettling as they are sonically overwhelming. At Covenant XI, the band will make its Vancouver debut, bringing its infamous brand of apocalyptic chaos and sensory annihilation to the West Coast.

ZULXAXEKU

At Covenant XI, two of the Black Twilight Circle’s most formidable manifestations, Volahn and Zulxaxeku, descend beneath the Serpent Sigil, bringing the clandestine spirit of this influential current within the American underground to Canadian soil. Returning to Covenant after a decade-long absence, Volahn carries the unmistakable voice of western black metal, blending psychedelic reverb, analog warmth, and windswept melodies into a sound shaped by desert mysticism, Mayan-inspired fire, and the cold resonance of the Pacific coast. Having forged a legacy through years of international performances, Volahn returns bearing the first signs of new material emerging from the abyss. Alongside them, Zulxaxeku makes its Canadian debut with a feral and chaotic fusion of war-grind intensity, ritualistic chants, and apocalyptic dissonance. Together, these two forces bring the banner of the Black Twilight Circle northward, uniting desert mysticism, occult warfare, and the ancient serpentine current that has long influenced the underground black metal landscape.
